Garbage Truck: Clunk and Crunch!

Piko is worried the garbage truck forgot his house, until he hears a rumble and a clunk! He and Luma watch from their safe spot behind the gate as the big green arm lifts, tips and sets the bin back down. A vehicle song for ages 2–5.

Actions: Chorus: roll your arms like big wheels, lift your arms high on 'Lift it up', tip forward on 'tip the load', then wave. Chant: your grown-up sings 'Clunka-clunka!' and you sing it right back with chunky robot arms, then crunch your hands together on 'CRUNCH!'. Verse 1: cup your hand by your ear and listen. Verse 2: guess each sound before the truck appears. Bridge: stand still on a 'safe spot' and wave to the driver. Verse 3: swing one arm out, grab, lift high, tip and set down. On collection day, watch together from a window, a porch or behind your gate, far from the road, and wave to the driver.

Chorus

Garbage truck is on the road,
Lift it up and tip the load!
Every week it comes to clean,
Wave from the gate to the big machine!
Clunka-clunka! Clunka-clunka!
Clunka-clunka! Clunka-clunka!
Clunka-clunka... CRUNCH!

Verse 1

Piko's bin waits by the road,
Lid shut tight, it's full today.
Did the garbage truck forget?
Listen... something's on the way!

Verse 2

What's that sound? Rumble, rumble!
Big green wheels come rolling near.
What's that sound? Clunk and whirr!
Here's the garbage truck! It's here!

Chorus

Bridge

Stay back, stay back, by the gate,
Far from the wheels, we wait, wait, wait.
Wave hello to the driver too,
And the driver waves to you!

Verse 3

Out swings the big green arm,
Grab the bin and lift it high.
Tip it in and set it down,
Empty bin! Goodbye, goodbye!

Chorus

Outro

Clunka-clunka... CRUNCH!
See you next week, garbage truck!
