Tumblelight Garden · for parents and caregivers

Goodnight Garden

A calm goodnight song for the end of the bedtime routine. Sing it softly at lights-out and swap in the things your child can see: goodnight, teddy; goodnight, window; goodnight, toes. The AAP suggests screens off at least an hour before bed, so this one is best sung, not watched, at bedtime.

Actions: sway slowly side to side on the chorus, put a finger to your lips on "shhh", wave goodnight to each thing in the verses, hug yourself and sway in the bridge, then wiggle your toes and tap your nose before eyes close.

Chorus

Goodnight, garden, sleepy and slow,
The moon is up with a silver glow,
Close your eyes and cuddle tight,
Goodnight, goodnight, goodnight!
Noo-la, noo-la... shhh.
Noo-la, noo-la... shhh.

Verse 1

Goodnight, flowers, nod your heads,
Goodnight, lilies, in your beds,
Goodnight, pond, so calm and still,
Goodnight, grass upon the hill.

Verse 2

Goodnight, Noli, slow, slow, slow,
Little star tip, glow, glow, glow,
Goodnight, Luma, soft and bright,
Thank you for your cozy light.

Chorus

Goodnight, garden, sleepy and slow,
The moon is up with a silver glow,
Close your eyes and cuddle tight,
Goodnight, goodnight, goodnight!
Noo-la, noo-la... shhh.
Noo-la, noo-la... shhh.

Bridge

Hug yourself and sway, sway, sway,
Bye-bye, busy, busy day,
Whisper now, so soft, so small,
Goodnight, goodnight, goodnight, all.

Verse 3

Piko snuggles in his bed,
Goodnight, toes, and sleepy head,
Goodnight, tummy, goodnight, nose,
Slowly, slowly, eyes can close.

Chorus

Goodnight, garden, sleepy and slow,
The moon is up with a silver glow,
Close your eyes and cuddle tight,
Goodnight, goodnight, goodnight!
Noo-la, noo-la... shhh.
Noo-la, noo-la... shhh.

Outro

Goodnight... shhh.
